With the growth of internet services in Nigeria, more and more people are getting used to watching videos online and so your potential customers are not limited to just watching tv or dstv.

YouTube is a favourite destination for people in Nigeria and according to Alexa's ranking, it is like the 5th most popular website in Nigeria, with thanks to Nollywood.

There has not been a better time than now to take advantage of internet video marketing in Nigeria and YouTube just offers you that platform for free.

It is one thing to advertise your products or service on pamphlets, bulletins, newspapers or other print media, but it's another thing entirely when you advertise it on internet tv which YouTube offers you for free. This is because what people see and hear is more powerful that what they just read. It is like a lively experience. All you basically need to do is create your own videos and upload them to your channel.

A visit to YouTube would tell you that there are millions of videos already uploaded there and this website is owned by Google, one of the richest internet companies in the world and they can afford to allow more videos on their server. These videos are uploaded by users from around the world who at least have a Google account and have created their own channels.

Just like your tv has several channels such as AIT, NTA, African magic and so on, so also does YouTube have different channels all created by users and has a lot of videos that are ready to play.

With YouTube, you can draw more customers or at least create more publicity for your products on the internet using free hosted videos.

Think of it, it can probably cost as much as N100,000 just to advertise your commercial video on tv stations but with Youtube, you don't have to pay any money to get the public watch to your advert. So you could as well afford to put all that money in creating a good commercial that would really entertain people.

Suppose you are into the business of booking flights like a travelling agency, you can make an entertaining video advert of how people can maybe book a flight from Lagos to Abuja or Lagos to London. It should be entertaining as well as educative.

The trick to getting more customers with YouTube has to do with getting as much video views as possible in your niche. As your video gets more popular, it gets ranked higher in search results like Google and is seen by potential customers. You should also include a link or detail in the video page showing your contact details such as office address, website and phone. This would allow customers contact you anytime when they would want to make an order.

So the more page views you get, the more customers you are also likely going to get for your business. You don't even need to create a 1 hr long Nollywood-like video since a 5 min video could do just fine.

thanks for this post. but I want to know how to create these videos. is it with cameras or my computer or is there a special software that helps in creating them. just want to be clarified.

There are lots of cameras nowadays that you can use to create videos. Even a good Nokia phone like Nokia 808 can take good videos. However, I think digital cameras are best and the clearer the video, the better views it's likely to get.
