You can make money just by importing and selling a category of computer accessories into Nigeria. A lot of people may not know this: Importation is an easy way to make millions in Nigeria and it doesn't have to be large containers or cars or laptops. You can simply make a lot of profit(Over 100% ROI) on just importing computer parts and peripherals that are needed in Nigeria. If you are going into this sort of business, one thing I would suggest you do is try focusing on a category or range of products that can be easily sent by cargo to Nigeria and by this I mean through the air. Weight is an important factor when shipping by air to Nigeria as your shipping cost is calculated in terms of its weight. Computer business is booming in Nigeria
We are practically in what we call the internet age in Nigeria and you know that the majority of people who use computers nowadays are the young people who are the majority in Nigeria. Things related to computers sell fast here and you just need to identify and focus on the ones you can be used to selling.
So as long as they are young people who have need for computer products, it would always be a profitable businessWhat kind of computer products should I import?
Let me give an example: You could focus on memory drives like USB flash drives, hard drives and so on.
Flash drives in Nigeria sell for about $10 = N1500 and when you check out the actual prices listed for some of these products on the internet, you find out that even original American spec flash drives cost about $4. Now to even consider that most of these usb flash drives coming to Nigeria are Chinese products which could be cheaper and cost about $1 and yet people are willing to buy it from over N1000 at the market price. You now see that even these retailers in the computer village make over 100% profit on the sub-standard flash products they are selling. You could decide on which country make to import whether Chinese or American, cheap or high quality and you'll still be able to make a lot of profit from it.Costs associated with importation into Nigeria
- Actual price
- Foreign exchange costs
- Shipping charges by the sender
- Import duties (if any)
You could try shipping in small quantities of such products first in order to see how the process worksShopping and shipping online
Although a lot of people who ship computer accessories into Nigeria do so by either travelling or sending money to their contacts abroad, there are also a couple of buyers who shop and ship online. Things you would need for online shopping of computer accessories
If you intend shopping online, here are things you would probably need:
- Internet connection
- Web address of merchants e.g Amazon.com
- Credit card
- Cargo services: You can get a mail forwarding service to NigeriaA simple guide to buy computer products on the internet
- Get a credit card

I believe these informations are very benefiting and the road map to a suceessful importation business. But why that MyUS mail account, is it to verify the genuity of the companies of why, pls enlighten.
I will be looking forward to your reply via my mail.
Re: Importing Computer accessories into Nigeria Reply by Felix Okoli on Monday November 12, 2012 at 13:9:48: You don't need a myUS account if you have someone that can help you receive the goods in America. A myUS account is just an account that gives you a US shipping address that will help forward it to you in Nigeria.
Most online US stores only ship within the US and so unless you have someone you trust that can help you ship it to Nigeria after receiving it, you would somehow need an agent to do it for you. I only recommend myUS since I've done business with them on several occasions.
