Mobile phones have replaced replaced pets as man's best friend in our world of today. For everywhere we go and for most things we do, we always have our mobile phone at hand. It has even become an important tool for many small businesses in Nigeria.

If you want to make money with your mobile phone, you'd need to know what capabilities your phone has and then be able to use them to make money for you.

Several ways to make money with your mobile phone

- Provide customer care service: If you already run a small business, dedicating a mobile phone number to that business can get and retain you more customers. You can respond to their inquiries and accept bookings. You'd just need to make your business contact public at your office, internet, newspaper or even your corporate website

- SMS marketing: This works well for mobile phones that have a lot of contacts. You could easily use and store potential and current customer contacts on your mobile phone and then be able to market to them using sms. You can update then when new stuff is available, promos are being run and when changes have been made. You can group contacts and know which sort of sms you want to send to them.

- Microblogging: There are growing number of Nigerians who do microblogging and these can be successfully done with a mobile phone. You can connect to sites like Twitter, Facebook and even your own blog with a mobile phone and add content to it conveniently with a mobile phone without having to use a desktop computer. Microbloggers make money from publicity they get and even selling advert spaces to online advertisers.

- Taking pictures and selling them: If you can take good pictures of important or exciting places and events, you can sell them to media houses or people who want them. You can even list them for sale on picture retailing websites.

- Recording and selling videos: You can also record and sell videos of important events or breaking news and you can sell them to media houses, website owners and other people that want them.

- Advertising on Google trader or others via sms and content writing. Sites like Google trader allows you to post adverts by sms and the web. You can do this with your mobile phone and then be able to promote your small business with that.
